Tennis player Kirios admitted that he had suicidal thoughts
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrios said he had thoughts of suicide a few years ago, noting that in 2019 he visited a psychiatric clinic.
“The expectations, the pressure of having everyone staring at you—I couldn’t handle it. I hated myself. I drank, I abused drugs, I ruined relationships with my family, I alienated all my close friends. It was obvious that I was in pain. I thought about whether to commit suicide?
I woke up after losing at Wimbledon and my father was sitting next to me on the bed and crying. This was a wake up call for me. I thought, “Okay, I can’t keep going like this.” I turned to a psychiatric clinic in London to deal with the problems, – quotes Kirios The Telegraph.
Kirios is the 25th racket of the world. During his career, the 28-year-old Australian has won seven ATP tournaments.
