Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina was defeated in the first round of the WTA 500 grass tournament in Berlin.
The Russian woman, who received the eighth seed, lost in 2 hours and 25 minutes to her compatriot Elina Avanesyan with a score of 2:6, 6:3, 6:7 (7:9). In the third set Kasatkina led 5:2.
In the next round, Avanesyan will meet with another Russian Anna Blinkova, who defeated the German Laura Siegemund – 6:3, 6:7 (3:7), 7:5.
In other matches of the first round, Polina Kudermetova lost to the third racket of the world Elena Rybakina – 4:6, 2:6, Vera Zvonareva lost to the second racket of the world to the Belarusian Arina Sobolenko – 3:6, 2:6, and Ekaterina Aleksandrova beat Lyudmila Samsonova with a score of 6: 4:6:3.
