Lesya TSURENKO: “WTA informed me that a lawsuit has been filed against my coach”
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko (WTA 46) said the WTA has launched an investigation against head coach Nikita Vlasov:
“I was shocked. I’ve already contacted lawyers to discuss next steps.
I had a panic attack that severely affected my mental and physical health and led to my withdrawal from the Indian Wells tournament. After my non-public complaint, not a single WTA official responded in any way. Since my public announcement, no WTA official, including Lindsey Brandon (Director of Conservation), Bob Campbell (Senior Director of Security), David Palanzo (Senior Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs), has contacted me to clarify the circumstances and the matter. my app
This shows that WTA is trying to cover up this incident and the fact of moral harassment by the CEO of the company. I was confused by such indifference and ignorance of the situation in which I found myself, and in a certain way I was frightened. I was waiting for one of the authorities to launch an investigation into this case, because it is unprecedented for a company’s president to allow himself to mentally abuse a war-torn person. Nothing happened, absolutely all WTA officials ignored this incident.
My coach initiated an investigation into Steve Simon’s actions. He made a formal request to the WTA to file a lawsuit. And today, I received a letter from the association informing me that a lawsuit has been filed against my trainer. The only person who spoke to the head of the WTA in my defense on this occasion was simply dismissed.
In this way, I feel like the WTA is trying to put pressure on me by continuing what Steve Simon started. I cannot believe that in the civilized world it is still possible to see such dirty games in which the head of the company tries in any way to avoid responsibility for his own actions and does not shy away from any method.
