A grandiose victory of the Russian tennis player! Dry smashed the top American

Less than two weeks left before the start of the main tennis tournament on the grass – Wimbledon. Preparation of top players for competitions in London is in full swing. Ekaterina Alexandrova got in great shape before her trip to the UK: the Russian beats opponents of any level.

The talented American Coco Gauff could not resist her either, having received a “steering wheel” from our athlete in one of the sets.

Championship title

This week, the 22nd racket of the world, Ekaterina Aleksandrova, is playing at the Berlin tournament. The Russian woman came here after the triumph in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where she won the fourth WTA solo title.

On German soil, it will be much more difficult for Catherine to achieve such success: she did not even get into the number of seeded. In addition, many top tennis players came to Germany. In the first round Alexandrova was opposed by compatriot Lyudmila Samsonova. Ekaterina dealt with the 15th racket of the world in two games – 6:4; 6:3, having spent a little more than an hour and a half to win.

With this win, Aleksandrova brought her winning streak to six games. In the second round, she was to meet with the seventh racket of the world Coco Gauff. The 19-year-old American was highly rated in juniors. And at the adult level, she has already managed to win three solo tournaments and eight doubles.

“Broke” an opponent

The beginning of the meeting was left for the American. The lethal serve allowed her to take the initiative for a long time. Most of the six aces Koko completed in the first games. However, at the end of the set, Ekaterina leveled the game, and the American frankly fell down. Unforced errors led Gauff to lose a point on his own serve at 4:4.

The loss of this game was fatal for the American. She could not oppose anything else to our tennis player until the end of the match. The tenth game brought Ekaterina victory in the first set.

The opening games of the second installment did not bode well for Gauff. Yes, she continued to make mistakes, but powerful blows allowed her to put up decent resistance to our tennis player for the time being. However, at decisive moments, the character helped Ekaterina to take point by point. The American literally finished half of the draws with blows to the net or out of bounds.

After the third lost game in a row, Koko finally broke down psychologically. More and more loud sighs of disappointment sounded from her lips. The fate of the confrontation was sealed. As a result, Gauff got the “steering wheel”, losing the set dry, and ingloriously completed her performance at the Berlin tournament.

And Alexandrova is now waiting for her next opponent. In the quarterfinals, Ekaterina will play with the winner of the pair Arina Sobolenko – Veronika Kudermetova.
