Alexei Selivanenko, Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the ITF Board of Directors, wished a speedy recovery to the Russian Karen Khachanov, who will not compete at Wimbledon.

Earlier, Khachanov officially withdrew from the Grand Slam tournament in the UK. The tennis player will miss Wimbledon due to a stress fracture and will be replaced in the main draw by Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. The last time Khachanov entered the court was in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, where he lost to the future winner of the tournament, Serb Novak Djokovic. After that, the 27-year-old tennis player missed the grass tournament in Halle due to injury. He is currently ranked 11th in the ATP rankings.

– Even during the last match of Khachanov at Roland Garros, it was clear that something was bothering him. In my opinion, Karen and his team made a balanced decision that it is better to recover calmly and not play with an unhealed injury. This happens to many tennis players from time to time.

On behalf of all Russian tennis fans, I wish Khachanov a speedy recovery and return to the court,” Selivanenko quotes Vprognoze.ru.

In early June, it was reported that the majority of Russian tennis players are having problems obtaining British visas to play at Wimbledon. Khachanov then admitted that he already had all the necessary documents. Wimbledon 2023 will take place from 3 to 16 July.
