(Berlin) Czech Petra Kvitova, 9e world, won the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin on Sunday by beating Croatian Donna Vekic in the final 6-2, 7-6 (8/6).

After frankly dominating the first round, the former world number 2 was pushed around in the second set but was able to count on her experience and her serve to get rid of the Croatian, 23e world, in a tiebreaker.

Kvitova, 33, takes her second tournament of the year after her success in Miami in March on 31e of her career, eight days before the start of Wimbledon, a Grand Slam which she has already won twice, in 2011 and 2014.
