A shameful defeat of the Russian tennis player.

Andrei Rublev is a very emotional tennis player. He broke rackets more than once and simply behaved expressively on the court. Emotions became a key factor in the defeat of the Russian at the tournament in Germany, where Kazakh athlete Alexander Bublik became his opponent in the final.

The cunning trick of the opponent infuriated Rublev and put him off balance until the end of the game.

Warm welcome

In anticipation of Wimbledon, tennis fans are waiting for a whole series of competitions on grass courts with a lower rank. On Sunday in the city of Halle ended one of these tournaments with a prize fund of just over two million euros. Four Russians came to Germany at once. Roman Safiullin and Aslan Karatsev lost already in the first round, Daniil Medvedev reached the ¼ finals, where Roberto Bautista-Agut was beaten. Another representative of our country Andrey Rublev took revenge on the Spaniard for his comrade and made it to the final, where he was awaited by Kazakhstani Alexander Bublik, who represented Russia some time ago.

German tennis fans took the match with the participation of two natives of our country positively. The audience warmly greeted the athletes before the start of the confrontation and supported both during the meeting.

The first racket of Kazakhstan has never won tournaments on grass courts before, and in general he took only one trophy in his career. In Halle, he was not among the favorites either: in addition to Medvedev and Rublev, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Hurkach, Chorich and Zverev participated here. However, this did not bother Alexander: he got to the main match, which he started very confidently, winning three debut games in a row. Rublev tried to return to the game, but he really failed to do it in the first set. Bublik won with a score of 6:3.

controversial situation

In the second set, Rublev began to correct the situation. Andrey obviously increased his activity and, having turned on in a timely manner, made a break in the sixth game. In part, our opponent’s mistakes helped our tennis player, but he also improved his game noticeably. Probably, it might seem to someone that this is a turning point in the final, after which the Russian will not miss the title. But Bublik, having lost the second set 3:6, was in no hurry to give up the first significant trophy.

Bublik started the decisive set again with a successful serve, ending the game with a spectacular ace. It is unlikely that this could scare Rublev, but he had difficulties on his own pitch. Bublik tried to confuse the Russian by shouting “ouch!” Rublev turned to the judges with a demand to punish the opponent for shouting arm in arm, but they ignored the appeal. As a result of the controversial situation, Rublev lost the game on his serve, after which he began to get nervous, wave the racket aggressively and speak out emotionally after unsuccessful draws.

The fans supported Andrey as much as they could: they cheered from the stands, they even waved a personal poster, where the athlete’s name was made in the colors of our tricolor. But Rublev failed to cope with the nerves. Bublik finished the final with the first match point, having won the decisive set with the usual score of 6:3. For the Kazakh, this trophy was the second in his career.
