“Although we say: “You will get a hole from a donut”, but in the match with Rublev, Bagel turned out to be on top” – Yanchuk
Honored coach of Russia in tennis Viktor Yanchuk believes that the Russian Andrei Rublev played well in the final of the tournament in Halle, but the representative of Kazakhstan Alexander Bublik was better.
Bublik beat Rublev 6:3, 3:6, 6:3 on Sunday in the final of the ATP‑500 grass tournament.
– Not so much Rublev played badly, but Bublik played well – Alexander served twice as much right through. Although I was wrong, there were more aces. Bublik plays a little unusual: he does not always return blow for blow, but returns difficult balls with cut ones. But he understands the game well and sees the situation. It is difficult to play with him in one blow – just in the final, Rublev did not always succeed.
I note the increased level of skill in Alexander. He beat Zverev and Rublev so confidently… He rose in class. Now he presents complexity, will be a tough nut to crack for anyone. In addition, he has a good response.
Rublev played well. Although we say: “You will get a bagel hole”, but in this case, the Bagel was on top. But the game was even. The bagel took a risk by serving the second inning the same way as the first, so there were [двойные] errors. To some extent, Rublev was unlucky. I don’t think that Alexander will always play at such a height: it just so happened that now he is in decent shape. Maybe there will be a downturn. But congratulations on a well-deserved win! Do not forget that Bublik is from Russia – our man who plays for Kazakhstan, – Yanchuk told the “Championship”.
Bublik took his second career title.
