“He followed me and shouted.” Ukrainian coach vilely humiliated tennis player Sobolenko
The second racket of the world from Belarus spoke about a terrible incident.
World tennis star Arina Sobolenko has been forced to endure attacks from Ukrainian tennis players and journalists over the past few months. The second racket of the world does not shake hands after the game and do not let them breathe in the interview. And now the athlete also shared the story of blatant treatment from the Ukrainian coach.
Amazing villainy!
“I thought I couldn’t handle it anymore”
The Belarusian tennis player during Roland Garros met several times with rivals from Ukraine. In the very first round, she left no chances to Marta Kostyuk, who, of course, ignored the handshake after the end of the meeting. It’s funny that the fans in Paris booed the Ukrainian for her behavior, which provoked a new wave of attacks on Sobolenko. At one of the press conferences, a Ukrainian journalist nearly pissed off a Belarusian woman with all sorts of provocative questions.
It got to the point that Arina was allowed not to hold open meetings with journalists, which is usually punished by a serious fine. The organizers of the tournament went to meet the athlete, understanding what kind of negativity she has to face on a regular basis.
Then there was another story. Sobolenko defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and waited for her at the net, but she predictably passed by and then threw a tantrum in conversations with reporters and social networks. All this, of course, was extremely difficult for Arina.
– At some point, everyone began to say that it is necessary to remove the players from Russia and Belarus. I thought everyone was looking at me strangely. There was a feeling that I was hated because of my country. One day I opened up social media and the first thing I saw was “You’re fucking going to die” or “You’re better off dead, wish your whole family died of cancer”. I looked at these messages and thought I couldn’t handle it anymore. It was too much,” said the second racket of the world in an episode of the series “Break Point”.
“Crying like a child”
Sobolenko recently spoke about another wild incident. It turns out that after one of the matches she was subjected to real psychological abuse by the Ukrainian coach.
– Once the coach of a Ukrainian tennis player told me with a laugh: “I’m glad you lost.” I cried like a child. He followed me and shouted. I felt guilty for what I didn’t do,” Sobolenko quotes L’Équipe.
Apparently, we are talking about the coach of the Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko. Arina previously admitted that she had a difficult experience with him during the tournament in Indian Wells in March. Tsurenko herself also confirmed the information, explaining that her mentor at that moment was simply losing her nerve.
You won’t envy Sobolenko. The top Belarusian athlete regularly has to fight not only with rivals on the court, but also with blatant near-sporting phenomena, often turning into direct insults.
