Khachanov spoke about the attitude towards the Russians on the tour

Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov admitted to RG that he has no problems with other athletes on the ATP tour due to the political situation.

Earlier, the organizers of Wimbledon called the conditions for the admission of Russian tennis players to the competition in a neutral status, noting that they must sign a special declaration. Last year, the organizers of the Grand Slam tournament in the UK did not allow the Russians to compete.

– How did you perceive last year’s situation with non-admission to Wimbledon? Can you tell us about the conditions of participation this year? Was there a declaration of neutrality?

Everyone knows that the British were among the first to introduce restrictions. It was their decision and there was nothing we could do. Now we are allowed. To be honest, I don’t remember exactly what the rules are. You sign a paper to participate in the tournament. We were given the green light. Everything is the same as in other competitions, it’s just that the British wanted to document everything.

– What is the attitude of the tour to the Russians in connection with the situation?

I don’t have any problems with anyone. We both played and continue to do so. We were allowed from the very beginning. In general, nothing should affect the attitude towards athletes. It’s my opinion.

– There is a feeling that the girls get more, because the matches against Ukrainians and the refusal to shake hands all the time provoke journalists and inflame the situation as a whole?

Again, it’s their decision. I don’t play against them. There is nothing like that for me. In this case, I speak only for myself.

Khachanov will miss Wimbledon this year due to a stress fracture, the Russian will be replaced by Francisco Cherundolo from Argentina.

Wimbledon 2023 will take place from 3 to 16 July.
