Speaking to ATP about his experience in ‘Break Point’, which is available to watch on Netflix, Stefanos Tsitsipas said he was grateful the world was getting a chance to see what happened in his epic match with Nick Kyrgios.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the faces of the Netflix series “Break Point” that was released in the past few days.

The Greek tennis player spoke to ATP about his experience in the popular Netflix series and said he’s glad the world got a chance to see what happened in the episodic match with Nick Kyrgios.

There was never a moment when I felt uncomfortable shooting the series. In fact, there was one moment I was thankful the cameras were there to record and that was my match with Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon. It was a very intense match so I’m glad they recorded it.

I’m glad people could see exactly what happened. It opens up the possibility of telling the truth and one’s own perspective on things. It’s good for sports.

It doesn’t all have to be overly clean or elegant. They (the crew) showed me respect and never crossed the line or made me uncomfortable. There was never a moment when I felt like they crossed a line.

For the breakpoint value: “It’s something the sport has needed for a long time. People can’t see behind the scenes, they only see what’s on TV. Some of us also have YouTube channels and we can show some things that go beyond our professional career, tennis needed that.

Everything is so private these days and it’s important to highlight the personalities and the strong minds and athletes that are out there. While discussing who he is highlighting from the Break Point crew, he said:

“How nice they were. It was a lot of fun working with this crew, not only were they there to film, they were friendly and created a very authentic atmosphere for all of us. They were professionals trying to create beautiful memories with us and I really appreciated this collaboration.”

Whether he often watches Netflix: “There were times when I watched a lot, but now I don’t watch anything special. I recently watched Rowan Atkinson’s Man Vs. Bee. Whenever I have free time, I like to watch something, but I don’t feel very productive doing it. I watch Netflix.

I’m someone who, when I go to bed at night, wants to feel like I’ve done something productive and important for me, that I’ve made the most of the day, as I like to say.”

As for whether he will watch the whole season at once: “No, I will not do that. I’ll check it out, but right, I’ll see every picture that comes. I like to see every detail that has been implemented, I pay attention to everything. It will be very interesting because they have followed some very good personalities for our sport.

I’d love to see more of what stories they were able to film with them, including me, and what narration they gave to those stories.”
