Who will play Venus Williams? Ukrainians recognize their first opponent at Wimbledon
The draw for the Wimbledon tournament was held on Thursday, June 30th.
In the main draw of the women’s tournament, Ukraine will be represented by five tennis players. According to the rating, Angelina Kalinina, Marta Kostyuk, Lesya Tsurenko and Katerina Beindl went to the base. Elina Svitolina received a wild card from the organizers.
Angelina Kalinina (No. 26 WTA) will face the qualifying Spaniard Jessica Buzas Maneiro (WTA No. 167) at the start of the competition.
Martha Kostyuk (No. 35 WTA) will start the match with the eighth seeded Maria Sakkari from Greece.
Lesya Tsurenko (No. 56 WTA) starts the game with Claire Liu of the USA (No. 95 WTA).
Katerina Beindl (WTA No. 86) will face Canadian Leyla Fernandez (WTA No. 96) in the first round.
Elina Svitolina (No. 75 WTA) will return to the London courts in a match against legendary American Venus Williams (No. 554 WTA), who also received a wild card.
Competitions in the main draw of a single tournament will begin on July 3rd.
