Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina He said he was afraid to return home but did not regret it:

“It is dangerous for me to return home now, given the current regime. As a homosexual who denounced war, it is absolutely impossible to go back. But I don’t regret a single percent. When the war started and everything went to hell, I was so covered and they say I decided to fuck everything up.

I couldn’t hide anymore. I wanted to state my position on the war and my sexual orientation. This was difficult because of a country I come from and where being gay is unacceptable. But I felt like I was carrying a backpack full of stones on my shoulders.

I just wanted to throw it away. After that there were some results but the only thing that bothered me was my family and everything was fine for them. They are proud of me,” Kasatkina said.
