Soviet and Russian tennis player Andrei Olkhovsky said that he does not consider Daniil Medvedev the favorite of Wimbledon 2023, because the Russian has not yet had high-profile victories in grass tournaments.
Medvedev in the first round of Wimbledon will play with Briton Arthur Fury.
– I would not call Medvedev the clear favorite of the tournament, although he has a good draw. But the second round will be very difficult – there you will have to play against Mannarino. Why don’t I think it’s my favourite? Daniil has not yet had high-profile victories on grass. At Wimbledon, his maximum is the fourth round. For me personally, there are two main favorites – Djokovic and Alcaraz.
I really hope that all our guys will show excellent results next week. Everyone has prospects for this. Rublev recently played in the final of the tournament in Hull – he showed himself brilliantly there. Andrew is in good shape. Let’s see how everything goes, – said Olkhovsky “Championship”.
Wimbledon will end on July 16th.
