It was the 6th meeting of tennis players. The Ukrainian has won the last 5 matches.
For Elina, this is her first victory on turf since 2021. After returning to the Tour, Svitolina played only one game on this surface, where she was crushed by Linda Frugvirtova in 2023 in Birmingham.
In the next round of Wimbledon, Elina will face the winner of the match Elise Mertens (WTA 28) vs Victoria Grunchakova (WTA 129).
Note that Williams Sr. has won 5 Wimbledon titles in his career (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008).
