Venus Williams: “And then the grass killed me in the match with Svitolina”
American tennis player Venus Williams shared her impressions of her first-round match at Wimbledon, where she lost with Elina Svitolina 4:6, 3:6 in two sets.
“The turf is slippery by nature, so you might fall at some point. I was just unlucky. I started the match perfectly and then the grass killed me (laughs). Yeah, it’s not fun right now. I felt like I was in great form going into this tournament and in the match. What happened now is so shocking. but it’s a sport.I hope I can understand what’s happening to me and move on.
I have suffered many injuries and won many matches with injuries. This is almost my specialty. But today I can’t understand. Have you considered removing it? NO. I tried to figure out how to win the game, I tried to fight to live another day,” Williams admitted.
Venus Williams, 43, is known as a five-time Wimbledon singles winner.
