Pivovarova considers Rublev the favorite of the match with Karatsev at Wimbledon
Former junior world No. 2 Anastasia Pivovarova believes that Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev will beat compatriot Aslan Karatsev in the second round of Wimbledon.
Rublev (7th seed) in the first round of the tournament on Monday beat the Australian Max Purcell with a score of 6:3, 7:5, 6:4, Karatsev was stronger than the French Luc van Asch – 6:7 (4:7), 6 :4, 6:2, 6:4. In the second round, the Russians will play each other.
– I consider Rublev the favorite, of course. I think that there will be a fight, but Andrei will be able to get into the third round, defeating Karatsev. It’s great that Aslan passed the first round of Wimbledon. We are all waiting for him to return to his former form. Of course, Karatsev has all the skills to play tennis at the top 10 level of the world ranking, but, unfortunately, psychologically he has some kind of failure now. We do not see the stable game that he had before. I hope that Karatsev will be able to cope with his emotions, be inspired by participation in the Grand Slam tournament, its atmosphere, and still show everything he is capable of,” Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru.
Rublev and Karatsev had previously held one personal meeting, in which Aslan turned out to be stronger.
