Former junior world No. 2 Anastasia Pivovarova believes that Daria Kasatkina can go far in the Wimbledon bracket because she is comfortable playing on grass.
On Monday Kasatkina, who received the 11th seed, beat the American Caroline Dolhide with a score of 6:1, 6:4 in the first round of the tournament.
– Daria had a difficult first round. Dolhide is comfortable on the grass surface and could cause inconvenience. But Kasatkina confidently coped with this opponent, and I believe that she can go far in the Wimbledon bracket. Daria is comfortable playing on the grass: she can both act consistently in defense and knock down the opponent’s rhythm. The turf at Wimbledon is slow, so it is very comfortable for Kasatkina. I believe that we will be able to see Dasha even in the second week of Wimbledon. Therefore, I expect her to win confidently in the second round,” Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru.
Briton Jodie Burrage will be Kasatkina’s next opponent. The best result of the 26-year-old Russian woman at Wimbledon is the quarter-finals in 2018.
