Wimbledon organizers are helpless even before pensioners. Where were the guards looking?

Puzzles and golden candy wrappers were used.

Not a day goes by without scandals at Wimbledon. The organizers of the tournament have already been accused of an extravagant ticketing program and improper preparation of the courts. Now, another problem has been added – the raids of eco-activists.

And they were warned about it!

As a target, the hooligans chose the match on court number 18, where the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and the Japanese So Shimaburuko played. In the first set, Dimitrov was completely stronger than his opponent – 6:1. The second one started with a break from Dimitrov, after which an unplanned show began.

Two people ran out onto the playground and scattered golden confetti and puzzles. The mosaic, by the way, was with the image of the center court of Wimbledon – it was probably bought in the official tournament store. So the organizers, without knowing it, helped the provocateurs!

The match had to be stopped to clear the court, and the hooligans were detained. According to British media, they turned out to be pensioners – a 68-year-old teacher and a 66-year-old musician. They identify themselves with the Just Stop Oil eco-movement, which advocates limiting oil production.

Interestingly, the golden wrappers and puzzle pieces scattered around the court have their own meaning. At least in the eyes of activists.

“We can’t leave the next generation to pick up the pieces,” Just Stop Oil said in a statement on the organization’s website. Subtle hints, do not say anything!

Murray warned

Stopoilists have long been a headache for British society. The trick at Wimbledon is far from the first.

Previously, environmental activists disrupted the snooker World Cup final, several Premier League football matches and a test match between England and Australia in cricket. Their distinguishing feature was the orange powder, which was scattered over the playing surface. True, this time it was without him.

The appearance of hooligans at Wimbledon was a matter of time and even predicted by experts. In particular, two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray said that there could be provocations at the tournament.

— I think that the probability is quite high. I can imagine that this will happen, – said the tennis player in an interview with The Guardian.

Bulgarian is a beast

But most of all suffered, of course, Dimitrov and Shimaburko. They had to kill time while waiting to get back on the court.

And the activists alone did not manage to do it. While the workers were cleaning the site, it began to rain, which greatly annoys London and the organizers of Wimbledon. Because of this, the match was postponed to a later time and unnecessarily dragged on. And after all, there is no fault of tennis players in this!

However, the forced pauses were in favor of Dimitrov. The Bulgarian literally tore apart the Japanese – 6:1, 6:2, 6:1. Was he really so enraged by pensioner activists with their hooligan antics?
