Terrible attack of a tennis player at Wimbledon. Heart was beating like crazy
The poor fellow even lost consciousness.
For the Chinese Wu Yibin, the current Wimbledon was the first in his career, but could also be the last tournament in his life. During the match, the tennis player complained about his health, and then lost consciousness. Only the timely help of doctors saved the sports world from tragedy.
But everything could have ended badly.
Difficult start
In the first round, the Chinese played with the American Francis Tiafoe. Previously, the opponents have never met each other at official ATP tournaments. The favorite, of course, was Tiafoe, who received the tenth seed at Wimbledon.
True, he had to prove his advantage in a difficult fight: Ibin made a break in the second game. The Chinese had every chance to win in the first set, but could not take advantage of them, but the American withstood the pressure. With a score of 5:6, Francis took the game and switched the game to a tie-break, where he was stronger – 7:6 (7:4).
In the first set, the game was interrupted twice due to rain. But compared to what happened next, this nuance will seem like an ordinary trifle.
“Wild and Scary”
At the beginning of the second set, Ibin felt unwell. The Chinese began to choke and asked for a medical pause. The arriving doctor, having measured the tennis player’s pulse, found abnormally high numbers – 187 beats per minute!
Ibin was immediately taken off the court for further examinations. According to the ESPN portal, the Chinese tennis player even lost consciousness for a while. Luckily, he was brought back to his senses.
All this time, Tiafoe was anxiously waiting for what would happen next.
“I had no idea what was going on. But there was a thought that it was all somehow wild and scary, ”the American admitted at the post-match press conference, his words are quoted by the Tennis Infinity portal.
After 15 minutes, Yibin returned to the court. It was expected that he would refuse the match, but the Chinese, to the surprise of the audience, decided to continue it. The arbitrators with the doctors did not object.
Tiafoe Advantage
The incident had a negative impact on Ibin’s game. In the second set, he resisted only until the score was 3:3. After that, Tiafoe completely took over the advantage, made a break in the eighth game and won – 6:3.
In the third set it turned out even sadder for the Chinese. He led 3-1 with two breaks, but gave up three games in a row. Having gained the upper hand in the eighth mini-game, Yibin actually gave up and stopped imposing a fight.
The American, in turn, brought the matter to victory in the third set – 6:4. In the second round he will play with Dominik Stricker from Switzerland.
Know about problems
What happened to the Chinese is, of course, terrible. But how did it happen that Yibin came out to play at all?
After the game, the opponent of the Chinese said that he was well aware of his heart problems.
“He told me later that his heart was skipping beats. He has problems with him,” said Tiafoe, quoted by Tennis Infinity.
At the same time, Wu Yibin continues to play tennis professionally and even shows good results. Not everyone gets to play in the main draw of Wimbledon, and Yibin is also the first Chinese to take the ATP tournament: in February 2023, he took the ATP 250 title in Dallas, USA.
Questions arise and to the organizers of tournaments. How can they allow tennis players who have long-term health problems to play?
In any case, the departure from the tournament should benefit the Chinese. Yibin got time to recover and take care of his health. I want to believe that everything will be fine with him.

Elina Svitolina – Linda Klimovichova. Prediction and announcement for the Australian Open match
They will face each other in the second round of the Australian Open on January 21 Elina Svitolina (WTA 12) and Linda Klimovichova (WTA 134).
The match will start at 02.00 Kyiv time.
Sport.ua together with a betting partner bet announcing the upcoming fight!
Elina Svitolina
Ukraine had as many as six representatives in the Australian Open main draw, but only Svitolina managed to get past the first round. The tennis player started here with a 6:4, 6:1 victory against Spaniard Buksha. There were difficulties in the first match when we had to come back from 1:3.
So far Elina’s season is going well, she took the cup in Auckland, her winning streak has already reached six matches. In the first match of the tournament, the Ukrainian player had only 49% of the first serve and made half as many errors as his opponent.
Ukraine’s first racquet is currently in good shape but has yet to face top opponents this year. If she is successful in the next match, Elina will face the winner of Tallia Gibson – Diana Schneider.
Linda Klimovichova
The Polish tennis player has been actively playing on the tour since 2022, but only now has he managed to get into the main draw of a major tournament for the first time. Here Klimovichova started with the qualifiers, where she did not lose a single match; The Australians passed in the order of Webb Sem – 6:2, 6:1 and Carbera – 6:4, 7:5. In the qualifying final, a 6:4 and 6:4 victory was achieved against Belgian Minnen.
Already in the main round the Polish woman defeated the British Francesca Jones, her opponent withdrew, losing 2:6, 2:3. Klimovichova was remembered for her active play in her last match, which was not completed, she achieved 24 wins, 8 against her opponent. Psychologically, this will not be difficult for a Polish woman; They don’t expect much from him.
To guess
The athletes had never met each other before, which is not surprising, since Polish women play very little in top-level tournaments. Svitolina is the favorite of these two, but Klimovichova can perform well in tennis.
Although the Polish athlete is 10 years younger, Elina should have no problems with endurance. Although the bookmakers are confident in the success of the Ukrainian athlete, I would take a total bet of more than 18.5 matches for 1.71.
