Jigsaw puzzles stopped being sold at Wimbledon due to environmental activists’ actions
Wimbledon organizers have decided not to sell jigsaw puzzles in branded stores anymore after protests by environmental activists, Sky Sports reports.
On Wednesday, members of the protest movement advocating the transition to clean energy sources forced to stop matches at the Grand Slam tournament twice. They ran out onto the grass court, scattering orange confetti and puzzle pieces.
For the first time, they interrupted the first round game between the Japanese Se Shimabukuro and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, and two hours later, the match between the British Cathy Bulter and the Australian Daria Saville.
Previously, the souvenir shops of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) sold a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle featuring men’s and women’s singles trophies.
AELTC Executive Director Sally Bolton announced the introduction of enhanced security measures.
