Vesnina called the second week of Wimbledon a real goal for Mirra Andreeva
Olympic tennis champion Elena Vesnina spoke about the prospects of Russian Mirra Andreeva at Wimbledon after reaching the third round of the Grand Slam tournament.
16-year-old Andreeva advanced to the next round after the refusal of the 11th racket of the world Kreychikova. The meeting was interrupted with the score 6:3, 4:0 in favor of the Russian tennis player.
“Mirra has already spoiled us all. Two Grand Slam tournaments in a row, she passes through qualification and gets to the third round. She shows adult tennis, despite her young age. It’s phenomenal that she was able to learn to play on grass so quickly and adapt to the surface.
She will now follow the Kreichikova grid, will not meet with highly seeded players. The second week is a very real goal for her,” Vesnina told Metaratings.ru.
In the next round, the Russian woman will play with the winner of the pair Anastasia Potapova (Russia) – Kaya Juvan (Slovenia).
