Svitolina failed to reach the 2023 Wimbledon final and lost to Vondrousova.

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 76) Failed to reach the 2023 Wimbledon final.

In the grassy major semi-final, the Ukrainian lost in two sets to the Czech representative. Markete Vondrousova (WTA 42).

Wimbledon 2023. 1/2 finals

Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) [WC] – Marketa Vondrousov (Czech Republic) – 3:6, 3:6

The fight started off pretty well for Elina. Marketa made mistakes and played unevenly near the net, while Svitolina beat Czech in long draws. However, in the fifth game, Eli gave up his step and the course of the game came completely under Marketa’s control. Despite Svitolina’s immediate reverse breakout (not without the help of her opponent who made a double mistake), Vondrousova nevertheless confidently played the remaining 3 games of the first set and took the first game with a score of 6: 3.

The second set started badly. When his hand could not find his game, Marketa, who took a break in the 2nd game, took 2 more games and took the lead 4:0 (40:0).

In the 5th match of the 2nd set, Svitolina got a second wind, but unfortunately it did not last long. The Ukrainian won 3 games in a row, took two timeouts but unfortunately it didn’t work to even the score. At 5:3, Elina once again made absolutely unnecessary mistakes on the forehand and then was unable to accept the opponent’s serve to stay in the match. As a result – 6:3, 6:3 in favor of Marketa.

Despite the weak play in the semi-finals, Elina made the Ukrainian fans and herself feel incredible. Who would have thought that Svitolina, who played only one game on the grass before Wimbledon started, could reach the semi-finals and beat Sventek? Nobody! And Eli did this at the age of 28, after the birth of a child, after a long absence of tennis … Svitolina once again returned the love of Ukrainians to such a wonderful ball game! This is the main thing!

For the third time in her career, Svitolina reached the 1/2 finals of the Grand Slam tournament. She reached this stage in 2019 at the US Open (losing to Serena Williams) and Wimbledon (losing to Simona Aleppo).

It was the sixth meeting of tennis players. The score is even, the Ukrainian have lost in the last three matches.

In the Wimbledon 2023 final, Marketa will play against the winner of the match, Arina Sobolenko – Ons Zhaber.
