Svitolina threw fourth-placed Svyotek and Vodrusova out of the Wimbledon semifinals
Svyotek lost to Svitolina by 2-1 sets and eliminated from the Wimbledon semi-finals, while Vodrusova defeated Pegula also by 2-1 sets and advanced to the top 4 of the tournament.
The big favorite to win the women’s Wimbledon was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The reason for this was the defeat of Iga Sviontek against Elina Svitolina, who put on a dream performance, won 2:1 sets (7:5, 6:7, 6:2) and qualified for the semifinals.
Before that, Marketa Vodrusova was the first to secure her place in the top four after beating Jessica Pegula also in 2-1 sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
