Elina SVITOLINA: “There is no time for defeats. I don’t know how much longer I can play.”

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, who will play in the semi-finals at Wimbledon today, talked about the difference between her current performance and the period before she took a break from her career.

“Now I tell myself that the number of years ahead of me is less than the number of years I still have in the past. I have to go and do it, I have no more time to waste. I don’t know how many more years I will be playing.”

“So I try to tell myself that I need to be determined. You train for those big moments. Like today, I saw a lot of history along the way as I walked to Center Court. You just realize that you’ve been trained for it. I just said that we have to go out and act decisively, give all our strength. It really helped me and at the same time calmed me a little, ”said Svitolina.

Elina will play against Marketa Vondrousova in the semi-finals.
