Wimbledon: Alkarath beats Rooney to reach semifinals
Carlos Alcarath won a 3-0 set against Holger Rune and booked his ticket for the Wimbledon semifinals at short notice.
Tennis fans were expecting a big fight between Carlos Alcarath and Holger Rune, only for the Spaniard to get back in high spirits.
The 20-year-old was excellent and, with the exception of the first set, easily qualified for the semifinals, winning 3-0 sets (7-6(3) 6-4 6-4).
It is the third time in his career that Carlos Alcarat has reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam and the first time at Wimbledon. We remind you that he had won the US Open while standing in the Roland Garros semifinals.
To get a better picture of the game, suffice it to say that Roone only had one break point in the entire game, which was 35 winners and only 13 effortless errors.
The first set was also the only one decided in detail as the two tennis players reached the tie-break which Alkarath won 7-6 (3).
In the other two sets, the Spaniard managed a break and reached the semifinals in complete control, where he meets Daniil Medvedev.
