Former second racket of the world among juniors Anastasia Pivovarova, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru, answered the question of whether she considers the current era in Russian men’s tennis to be the best in history.
Earlier, three Russian tennis players reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon tournament at once – Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Roman Safiullin.
– It’s hard to compare. I liked the era of Marat Safin and Yevgeny Kafelnikov, when Marat won the Grand Slam at the age of 20. All eras are good when we have guys who can play at the highest level. And when there are a lot of them, it’s very nice. Thank you very much for such tennis and for the fact that they fight every match,” said Pivovarova.
In the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, Medvedev will play American Christopher Eubanks. The match will take place on July 12 with the second start on court number 1 – after the game between Arina Sobolenko and Madison Keys. Rublev previously lost his quarterfinal to Novak Djokovic (6:4, 1:6, 4:6, 3:6), while Safiullin lost to Yannick Sinner (4:6, 6:3, 2:6, 2:6).
