Former world number three and Olympic bronze medalist Nadezhda Petrova admitted that she expected more from the Wimbledon semifinal match between Russian Daniil Medvedev and Spaniard Carlos Alcaras.

Medvedev in the semi-finals lost to the first racket of the world Alcaraz with a score of 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.

– Match Alcaraz – Medvedev did not exceed my expectations. I thought that Danya would still be able to fight, or at least impose a fight. But for everything to be so simple – 6:3, 6:3, 6:3, Alcaraz has 14 break points, six of which he converted – it’s incredible. Danya tried to play somewhere closer to the line, to act aggressively, to go to the net, but he couldn’t outplay Carlos in any way, he just blocked the entire court, rushed about, dragged everything. And his answer was just cannon, powerful blows.

How cool he went to the net from the serve, he mixed the direction of his serve very well, even the rotation on it was – the ball was uncomfortable and bounced high at Daniil. Carlos also finished near the net. He played well, used the whole court. It was clear that he was concentrated, ready to fight and for a long match, Petrova told Gazeta.Ru.

Alcaraz will play in the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career. Rival 20-year-old tennis player will be Serb Novak Djokovic (2nd seeded).
