Former junior world No. 2 Anastasia Pivovarova noted that Serb Novak Djokovic and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz are in excellent shape, but the 23-time Grand Slam champion may experience difficulties in the Wimbledon final due to psychological stress.
Djokovic defeated the Italian Yannick Sinner in the semifinals, and Alcaraz was stronger than the Russian Daniil Medvedev. The Grand Slam final will take place on Sunday.
– It will definitely be a bright finale, because Alcaraz and Djokovic are now at a phenomenal level of preparation and psychology. The only thing I can say is that Djokovic will be more nervous. This is already evident in his matches, because he wants to win a “career” Grand Slam – to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in a season. And, of course, he will worry and feel less comfortable. Perhaps this will affect the result and will be the decisive factor in who wins,” Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru.
Djokovic is a seven-time Wimbledon winner. Alcaraz will play in the final of this tournament for the first time in his career.
