Olympic champion and winner of three Grand Slam tournaments in doubles Elena Vesnina considers participation in the Wimbledon semi-finals a good result for Russian Daniil Medvedev.
Medvedev lost in the semi-finals to the first racket of the world Spaniard Carlos Alcaras with a score of 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.
– Alcaraz had a terrific match, in the same breath. Danya resisted and did everything he could. But it was in this match that it was clear how much Alcaras was superior to Danya in many components of the game.
Carlos did it all. He was so excited… Everything was going so well that I’m not even sure about the ending. Everyone says that Djokovic is the clear favorite, but I’m not at all sure about that. Alcaraz is in such good shape right now that he is poised to win Wimbledon. Too bad Dani didn’t make it. But Djokovic and Alcaraz are the two best tennis players at the moment.
For Daniil reaching the semi-finals is a great result. The most important thing is that he adds. It is clear that he is working on himself. At Roland Garros, he could not go beyond the third round, at Wimbledon he has now reached the semi-finals – this suggests that he is constantly progressing and growing, Vesnina told the Championship.
Alcaraz will play in the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career. Rival 20-year-old tennis player will be Serb Novak Djokovic (2nd seeded).
