Former third racket of the world, Olympic bronze medalist Nadezhda Petrova believes that the Wimbledon semifinal match in men’s singles between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Russian Daniil Medvedev can be an example for young tennis players.
Medvedev lost in the semi-finals to the first racket of the world with a score of 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.
“He played superbly from start to finish. 71% he hit the first serve, and Daniil – 59%. To raise this percentage, there would be more points won. And how great Carlos played on Medvedev’s second serve! He just went into the court and actively attacked at the reception. A great match, a great example for young people how to play and how to play the game, how to play with integrity. Just awesome!
Naturally, it’s a bit of a shame for Danya that he couldn’t show his best tennis. But to be honest, Carlos just didn’t give it to him. Now we are waiting for a very interesting ending: a young tennis player against, perhaps, the most experienced player on the tour now – Alcaraz against Djokovic, Petrova told Gazeta.Ru.
Alcaraz will play in the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career. Rival 20-year-old tennis player will be Serb Novak Djokovic (2nd seeded).
