20-year-old Spanish tennis player carlos alcaraz (ATP 1) Won the championship at Wimbledon 2023!

In the final of the Grass Major, the Spaniard beat the world number 2 and 23-time Grand Slam winner in five sets. Novak Djokovic (Serbia).

Wimbledon 2023. End

carlos alcaraz (Spain) [1] – Novak Djokovic (Serbia) [2] – 1:6, 7:6 (8:6), 6:1, 3:6, 6:4

Alcaraz failed at the start of the match. It was an even fight in the first two games, but Novak entered the game faster and better. The Spaniard could not oppose anything to the Serb in the first installment. Result – 1:6 defeat.

The second set started almost the same as the first – in an even fight, but Carlos took the first timeout. True, Nole interrupted the Spaniard’s serve immediately. In Game 4, Carlos had a chance to break again (the score was 30:0, 40:30), but he failed to do so. The tennis players reached the tie-break where Carlos was stronger. Interestingly, before this match, Novak had won 15 tie-breaks in a row.

In the third set, Carlos initially looked fresher (after all, the age gap is great). In the first match, Carlos got Serb’s service and saved 2 time-outs in the 4th game and took the lead 3-1. The fifth game of the second set can be called the game of the year, or at least the tournament. The tennis players (on the grass!) played 26 minutes on Nola’s serve, 13 doubles, Novak managed to argue with referee Carlos to get angry with the court. As a result, at the 7th timeout, Carlitos still took a timeout and then closed the game with a score of 6:1.

After the third installment, Nole took a toilet break and was off the field for about 7 minutes. This probably helped Novak recover a little bit. The first four matches were very tense and struggled. Then Nole opened his second wind and smashed Carlos, who failed. The result is 6:3 in favor of Novak.

It looks like Nole will turn the finisher mode back on and turn the game upside down. However, Carlitos is still in the first place in the ATP rating even though he is only 20 years old, but he already has a lot of experience. And physically the advantage was entirely on the Spanish side. In the first two games, the tennis players saved one break point, and then Carlitos took a break. A few more incredible points were given to Charlie and Nola before the fight was over, but the audience saw no more breaks. The result of the fifth set is 6:4 in favor of Alcaraz. Carlitos, the Wimbledon champion!

It was the third meeting of tennis players. Carlitos won the 2nd fight.

Alcaraz won the Grand Slam for the second time in his career. He won the US Open in 2022.

It was Djokovic’s 35th Grand Slam final. To his credit, he has 7 Wimbledon titles. Novak has won the Grass Major 4 times in a row (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022).

Carlos won the 12th game in a row. Before Wimbledon began, Carlos took the title at the ATP 500 tournament in London.

This was Carlitos’ 15th Round final and his seventh this season. In 2023, he has already won six championships.

Note that Carlos Alcaraz will remain the world’s first racket at the end of Wimbledon 2023.
