The organizers of the tennis tournament in Poland make their own decisions about the personnel of the competition, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of this country said, and the authorities have no right to interfere in the process.

Earlier, the organizers of the Challenger tennis tournament in the city of Grodzisk-Mazowiecki recommended that Russians and Belarusians not apply for participation in the competition.

“International sports federations are independent and autonomous organizations, therefore the Ministry of Sports and Tourism does not have legal instruments to influence the personnel of the competitions organized by these federations,” the publication Przeglad Sportowy quotes the response of the Ministry to a corresponding request.

The press service of the tournament reported that access for Russians and Belarusians to participate was “not guaranteed”. The Challenger series tournament will be held from 14 to 19 August.
