Carlos Alcaraz: “This is the happiest moment of my life”
Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaras (ATP #1) shared his impressions of his victory over seven-time tournament champion Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2023 final.
“The feeling is great. It was my dream to win Wimbledon, I really wanted it. I didn’t expect it to be done so quickly. Honestly, I did it for myself, not for the tennis generation. It was great. Beating Novak at the top at this level is the first to beat him on the court in 10 years. Making history as a person is incredible.
I will never forget this. And the new generation is good for that too, they’ve seen how I beat him and they’ll think they’re capable of it too. It’s great for me and for younger players.
Now this is the happiest moment of my life. Maybe it will be different in five years (smiles). I’m 20 now and have had a few situations like this, so I’m going to savor the moment.
Today I made history, this is the happiest moment of my life. I think it will stay that way for a long time. Ever since I started playing tennis, I’ve dreamed of beating Novak and winning Wimbledon. Therefore, this is the most important moment of my life,” said Carlos Alcaraz.
