Djokovic on Alcarath: “I’ve never played with someone like him”

Novak Djokovic praised Carlos Alcarat at the press conference, stressing that he had never faced a player like him before.

What Novak Djokovic said about Carlos Alcarat in the press conference after the Wimbledon final certainly concerns many, but his statement carries a different weight.

Among other things, the Serbian tennis legend said that he has never faced a player like the Spaniard and stressed that he has elements of all three members of the Big 3.

ā€œFor a year everyone has been talking about his game having elements of Roger, Rafa and me. I agree with that. I think he took the best elements from all three of us.ā€

He has incredible spiritual strength and maturity over the past 20 years. That’s great. He has the bull mentality, fighting spirit and defensive skills that we’ve seen in Rafa over the years. It also has the two-handed backhand from the defensive, which has been my trademark for many years.

I’ve never played with anyone like him. Roger and Rafa obviously had their strengths and weaknesses, Carlos is very complete. He has enormous adaptability and that is the key to a long career on all surfaces.ā€ he said among other things.
