(Paris) Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Wimbledon tournament on Sunday for the first time in his career at the expense of his runner-up Novak Djokovic, consolidated his place as world number 1 in the ATP ranking published on Monday.

The 20-year-old Spaniard is now 880 points ahead of the 36-year-old Serb, whom he beat in five sets in the final, but he will have to defend in September the 2,000 points acquired last year with his victory at the Internationals of the United States 2022 in which Djokovic had not participated due to his vaccination status.

Russian Daniil Medvedev remains 3e, at a respectable distance from the first two. There are no other changes in the top 10.

The American Tommy Paul gains a place and takes the 14e world rank to Croatian Borna Coric. This is the best career ranking of the 2023 Australian Open semi-finalist, 26.

Pole Hubert Hurkacz goes up to 17e rank in place of the Australian Alex De Minaur. The German Alexander Zverev, up two places, returns to him top 20at the 19e position. Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, down one place, is 20e.

In the rest of top 100the Russian Roman Safiullin, now 43erecords the best progression of the week after reaching the quarters at Wimbledon, with a gain of 49 places which allows him to obtain the best ranking of his career.

The American Christopher Eubanks, who also reached the quarters of the London tournament, also occupies the best ranking of his career, at 31e world rank, up 12 places.

Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime is still the highest-ranked Canadian on the ATP Tour, at 12e rank, even though he lost in the first round for a second consecutive Grand Slam tournament.

Ontarian Denis Shapovalov, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, climbed six places to 23e position.
