American tennis player expelled for cheating Ridiculous fantasies did not save

The athlete tried to pass off a banned drug as a vitamin.

Another scandal related to the use of doping has thundered in tennis. Its main character was the American Sidney Dorsil, who wanted to improve her results – to put it mildly, not the most outstanding ones. For this, she went on a lie.

But the scammer was still caught.

Vitamin shots

Little-known American tennis player Sydney Dorsil was suspected of using steroids in November 2022 while playing in Peru. In her sample, they found boldenone, a derivative of testosterone, with the help of which muscle mass grows. Because of this, in January 2023, Sydney was temporarily suspended from the competition.

The Independent Tennis Adversity Authority (ITIA) was able to prove that the American deliberately injected herself with doping in the body. Based on this decision, Dorsil is suspended for four years. She will be able to return to professional tennis no earlier than January 2027.

The athlete partially admitted his guilt. She did not deny the presence of boldenone, but during the proceedings she stated that the drug entered her body by accident. Allegedly, Sydney was given injections with vitamin B12, which turned out to be contaminated with a steroid. Her intentions are clear – unintentional doping is not punished so severely. But the commission, having checked all the facts, did not believe the tennis player and upheld the four-year disqualification.

without success

The ITIA did not specify at which specific tournament the American was caught with boldenone. In November, two unpaved 15-thousanders took place in Peru, and Dorsil took part in both.

True, she did not achieve much success. At the first tournament, Sydney was eliminated in the second round by hostess Dariana Vera. On the second, she reached the quarterfinals, where she lost to the Belgian Indira Lepage.

After Peru, Dorsil had two hard tournaments in Santo Domingo (USA) and one in Martinique. But even there she did not shine, winning only one match out of four.

At the end of the second thousand

Sydney Dorsil is 20 years old and has been playing in ITF tournaments since 2019. It is ridiculous to talk about any achievements – they simply do not exist. The American won only seven matches at the adult level! The best achievement is the quarterfinals of the ITF W15 tournament in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Dorsil’s highest achievement is 523rd in the ITF rankings and 1255th in the WTA. Given the fact that she missed half a year due to a temporary disqualification, she can only be found at the end of the second thousand of the ITF rankings. But even from there the American will soon disappear.

Meat with dope

Boldenone is considered a strong steroid used in bodybuilding and veterinary medicine. Its use in professional sports is prohibited and punishable by a four-year disqualification. But cases of the use of boldenone are still detected.

With this steroid, in particular, Tara Moore, a British tennis player who played in the personal grid of Wimbledon and the US Open, was caught. She was also disqualified, although she claimed that she did not knowingly dope. The situation had a negative impact on Moore’s WTA rating: she slipped from the second hundred to the ninth. And while there are no prerequisites for the fact that the girl will return to her best performance.

But another tennis player caught on boldenone, Colombian Robert Farah, managed to prove that the drug accidentally entered the body. The former Wimbledon and US Open doubles champion claimed to have eaten steroid-laced beef cooked by his mother. A factory where meat was produced was identified along the chain, and its representatives admitted that they still use boldenone. As a result, Farah escaped with a reprimand and continued to play without any harsh sanctions.

But not everyone manages to evade responsibility so easily. In most cases, anti-doping authorities issue harsh sentences. Now on this list is Sydney Dorsil, who disguised steroids as vitamins.
