Toni Nadal summons the power to stop Alcaraz
Coach Toni Nadal, uncle of 14-time Roland Garros champion Spanish Rafael Nadal, shared his impressions of the last match of Wimbledon 2023, in which Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz beat Serbian Novak Djokovic.
“Honestly, I don’t see any tennis player right now other than Novak Djokovic who can stop Carlos Alcaraz’s unstoppable rise. Djokovic once again showed his battle-ready and excellent tennis qualities. Despite being 16 years older than his opponent and being at a disadvantage, he continued to hold on and level up.
The age gap gave the Spaniard an advantage, especially when they came in the fifth set, but until then I was confident that anyone could win. “Alcaraz showed the composure, calmness and poise necessary to survive in the last match for the coveted trophy.”
