BINDLE: “I hope Shuai is feeling better and we can see him again soon”
On July 20, 1/8 final match of the WTA 250 soil tournament was played in Budapest (Hungary) between Ukrainian tennis players. Katerina Bindl and Hungarian representative Amarisso Toth.
After the end of the fight, the Ukrainian gave an interview on the field, where he touched on the scandalous expulsion of Zhang Shuai from the 1st round match against Tot:
“I just want to say that I hope they (the fans) stay honest and that Zhang Shuai feels better and hopes to see him again soon. He’s an amazing actress, he respects everyone and he’s a great person. He has a lot to learn,” said Katerina.
In the duel between Amarissa Tot and Zhang Shuai with the score of 5:5 (15:15), the Chinese woman hit the line in the first set, but it was not counted. The referee confirmed the decision of this side referee. The Chinese woman called the supervisor, but she said she had no right to record the notes. The match continued, and after the next draw Hungarian came and cleared the mark from the blow, with nothing to be proven. At the same time, the stands booed Shuai, who was trying to protest.
Kateryna Baindl spoke about Shuai Zhang after she defeated Kiara Toth:
“I just want to say that they can stay fair and that I hope Shuai Zhang feels better and that we will see him again soon. He is an amazing actor, a very respectful and wonderful person. There is a lot to learn from him.” pic.twitter.com/gMkJh4Iik8
