WTA issued a statement after Zvonareva was banned from entering Poland to participate in the tournament

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) issued a statement after the situation with the non-admission of Russian Vera Zvonareva to Poland to participate in the tournament.
The press service of the Polish government previously reported that the Border Guard did not allow the 38-year-old tennis player to enter the country to participate in the WTA tournament “for reasons of state and public security.”
— The WTA is aware of the situation with Vera Zvonareva in Warsaw. The safety and well-being of all players is a top priority for the WTA. Vera left Poland, we will study this issue in the future, the association said in a statement.
The WTA 250 category tournament will be held in Warsaw from 24 to 30 July. Zvonareva is ranked 60th in the world ranking. Zvonareva has 12 WTA titles.
