August 12 Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya (WTA 149) won the trophy in the tough WTA 125 series tournament held in Kozierki (Poland).

Beat the Ukrainian in the final of the competition Gret Minnen (Belgium, WTA 113) with 2:6, 6:1, 6:3 points.

After the fight was over, Dayana commented on her success:

“It’s not the biggest win of my career because I’ve already won three WTA 250 events, but this is the first tournament I’ve won in over three years. So this success made me very happy. I felt good here and played really good games. I hope to be able to maintain my current form for the next few weeks, especially as I will soon be traveling to New York for the US Open qualifiers.

I am glad that my compatriots from the stands support me. This is very beautiful and important for the athletes of our country, who find themselves in a very difficult situation – war. But wherever we play in the world, we unite with our compatriots fighting in Ukraine.”
