The French tennis player was caught organizing agreements. And kicked out of the sport!
The Frenchman was a member of a criminal organization.
French tennis player Alexis Musialek has never been distinguished by special data, but he still went down in history. True, in his case, the expression “didn’t enter, but got into it” is more applicable. The player has done such things that now his career is over ahead of schedule.
Moreover, Alexis is forbidden even to appear in the court area!
In the middle of the third hundred
Musialek’s path in tennis turned out to be not entirely convincing, although he nevertheless gained some kind of fame. He has nine titles, but all of them were won in Futures series tournaments or not the most expensive International Tennis Federation (ITF) competitions. Over the years, Alexis was able to grow to 255th in the ATP rankings.
At the same time, the Frenchman once played at the Grand Slam tournament. In 2018, Musialek and his compatriot Kristina Mladenovic performed in a mixed single at Roland Garros. They did not advance beyond the second round, since then Alexis has not appeared at major competitions.
And now no one will see him there.
didn’t want to cooperate
It turned out that from 2016 to 2018, the Frenchman worked on organizing match-fixing. The guy suggested to some players not to try hard to win. For this he received money. In total, investigators identified nine matches, the outcome of which was influenced by Musialek.
There was indisputable evidence against the tennis player, but he did not admit guilt. He was exposed by anti-corruption expert Raj Parker. As a result, one more thing was added to the charges – refusal to cooperate with the concealment of evidence.
In total, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) found 39 violations in Alexis. The athlete was banned for life from any activity related to professional tennis. He is prohibited from playing, coaching and even attending official tournaments as a spectator. In addition, the Frenchman was fined $50,000.
The decision came into force on 5 August. Thus, Musialek’s tennis career is finally in the past.
With the help of the Belgians
The ITIA press release noted that the Frenchman’s case was the latest in a chain of high-profile investigations. Alexis was a member of a team that handled match-fixing. Several of his accomplices were also disqualified, and the leader of the gang went to prison for five years.
To solve the case, ITIA actively worked with Belgian law enforcement officers.
“Evidence from the Belgian trial confirms findings gathered from parallel ITIA investigations and industry rate warnings,” the agency said in a statement.
