Sobolenko can become the first racket of the world after the US Open
Belarusian tennis player Arina Sabolenko has a chance to top the WTA rankings at the US Open.
Before the last Grand Slam tournament of the season, the second racket has 8746 points. The leader of the rating Iga Sventek has 9955 points. At the US Open, the Belarusian has to defend 780 points, the Polish – 2000 points earned for the victory a year ago.
Sventek is guaranteed to stay on the first line of the ranking if he wins the tournament. If Sobolenko wins, simply performs better, or at least repeats her result, then for the first time in her career she will become the leader of the rating.
The US Open will run from August 28 to September 10.
