Sakkari was eliminated in the first round in the third straight Grand Slam
Maria Sakkari was eliminated early from the US Open after losing to Rebecca Masarova. This was the Greek tennis player’s third elimination from as many Grand Slams she has competed in this year (Roland Garros, Wimbledon).
The Grand Slams didn’t go well for Maria Sakkari this year, who afterwards the disqualification of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, the same thing happened at the US Open, where was defeated by the Spaniard Rebecca Massarova with 2:0 sets (6-4, 6-4). This is the worst performance of her career.
We remind you that at its premiere in Roland Garros, the The Greek tennis player lost 2-0 in a set to Karolina Mouhova and was eliminated from the tournament.
Eventually the same thing happened at Wimbledon. In a match that went through a thousand waves and was interrupted twice due to rain, Sakkari lost to Marta Kostiuk in 2-1 sets (0-6, 7-5, 6-2) and was eliminated from the London Grand Slam in the first round.
