Stefanos Tsitsipas had no trouble against Milos Raonic, winning 3-0 sets and progressing to the second round of the US Open.

The match: The first set was a two-game affair, essentially decided in the fourth and fifth sets between the two tennis players. In the fourth round, Raonic managed a double break point but Tsitsipas managed to hold.

Immediately after the Greek tennis player had a double break point, he broke his opponent’s serve and then things got easy for him. Steph held twice, creating another break in game eight to finish the first set 6-2.

The second set was a different matter. Tsitsipas set the stage for a break but didn’t make it as Raonic stayed alive in the set.

So we reached the eighth game in which the 25-year-old Greek had to earn three break points to use the last point. That was enough, because he finished the set 6:3.


We fought a tough battle in the third set. On the one hand, Tsitsipas wanted to finish the match while Raonic struggled to stay alive. It was the Canadian who broke in game six to take a 4-2 lead but Steph reacted immediately.

With psychology at its peak, Stefanos Tsitsipas managed to end the game by winning the next three games and qualifying for the next round.
