Tsurenko beat the winner of the knockout round in three sets at the start of the US Open
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko (No. 46 WTA) successfully debuted at the US Open.
In the first round, the Ukrainian player defeated the qualifying Frenchman Elsa Jaquemo (No. 181 WTA).

After the first set, the Frenchwoman took a medical break.
This was the first meeting of tennis players. Lesya played at the base of the US Open for the ninth time and only managed to pass the first round for the fourth time.
Note that Tsurenko was supposed to play against Bianca Andreescu in the first match, but the Canadian withdrew from the tournament.
Lesya’s best result in New York is the 1/4 final in 2018.
In the next round she will face the winner of the match Ekaterina Alexandrova (No. 20 WTA).
Earlier, Elina Svitolina had managed to reach the second round.
