The third racket of the world, Russian Daniil Medvedev, explained why the athletes of his sport yell at their own coaches.
Medvedev beat Hungarian Attila Balazs 6:1, 6:1, 6:0 in the first round of the US Open.
I don’t know, I don’t have an explanation. In general, I think that tennis drives people crazy, tennis players to be exact. In my opinion, there are days when in training or in matches you go out and think: “Wow, I feel great.” The forehand flies precisely, everything is fine with the backhand. You can even do short cuts or cuts sometimes. Everything is very good.
Then there are days when you can’t get the ball into the court. You get frustrated because at some point, when you miss, say, 10 times, you start looking at the coach and thinking, “What’s going on?” It happens to me. Sometimes it seems to you that you did what was necessary, even if you missed, and you ask the coach: “Well, did I succeed?” Because of this, conversations and disputes begin,” Medvedev said at a press conference.
Medvedev’s next opponent at the US Open will be world number 69 Australian Christopher O’Connell.
