Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina appreciated her debut at the US Open – the athlete fought in two sets with Anna-Lena Fridzam in the first round.

– Elina, victory in two sets, less than an hour, 59 minutes, everything is very clear. You can rate your performance.

– Yes, the tournament was a good start for me. I think I played well, served well. Of course, it was a little difficult in the beginning. It was a 3-3 score and then I tried to raise my good level even more. I am very happy with the way I serve, the way I act, the way I hit the ball. So yes, I’m happy with the straight sets win.

– What are you most satisfied with in terms of your game today?

– I think everything was fine. Last week I trained to get back to my old form. It was well served. At the reception I always tried to be ready, tried to move my legs quickly. In the end, I received the ball well, I moved well. There was nothing I would say didn’t work today.

– How was your recovery after the injury that got you playing for Cincinnati? Did you feel healthy enough to start preparing for the US Open instead of trying to recover?

Yes, we tried not to rush. The news was not very good but we decided to do our best every day. I am grateful to my team for understanding my situation. I want to play. I want to play the last major of the season. I am very satisfied with my performance and health today. So I’m just trying to focus on that.
