Stefanos Tsitsipas stayed on the pitch to sign autographs for his young fans shortly after his US Open exit following his 3-2 set loss to Dominic Stricker.

Early disqualification for Stefanos Tsitsipas from the US Open. The Greek tennis player lost 3-2 sets to Dominic Stricker (No. 128) and had a bye in the second round.

Despite his disappointment at his disqualification, Tsitsipas stayed on the pitch to sign autographs for his fans.

During the press conference, the Greek tennis player explained why he stayed on the court despite just being knocked out by the Swiss:

“It’s not easy to stay there. I saw the little kids, their faces touched my heart because I was in their position once, I had players I admired. Now I think the kids admire me, not as much as Roger, Rafa and Novak, but I’m somewhere in the…alternative.

I had to do it and it felt good. The first thing I wanted inside was to get off the seat and clear my head, but I had to. And I hope I made people happy.
