Kostyuk explains the reasons for Rybakina’s devastating defeat at the US Open
Ukrainian tennis player Martha Kostyuk He explained the reasons for the defeat in the match against Elena Rybakina, the fourth racket of the world, at the US Open (2:6, 1:6).
“After the match, I saw a lot of different views on the fight and frankly, you got a little bored with the opinions and expert opinions of outsiders who thought they knew all the nuances. Of course, I understand that this is a minor minus that my work is in the public domain and has undergone extensive evaluation by those who have not been asked anything.
Speaking of my thoughts on the game we will play against Rybakina, first of all I can say that he is among the top 5 tennis players and is having an incredible season. We played at the beginning of the year and when I went to the game, I had certain expectations and I had an understanding of what his game consisted of. But when the fight started I realized that I had a completely different player in front of me, much better in many ways, he’s done an incredible job this year and it’s paying off for him. As for me, I started a small losing streak and it makes itself felt in these types of matches because it doesn’t add confidence to you. There were moments in my game that didn’t quite work, and I also didn’t feel very good. A few days before the tournament, I got sick from the air conditioners all over America, so all the rooms were very cold. But the most important thing was that Rybakina played an incredible match against me. I am already looking forward to new tournaments and new opportunities to show my best tennis,” said Kostyuk.
